Fall Decorating Ideas
The beginning of the new school year always makes me think of Fall.
Even if the temperatures are high, I look forward to the return of autumn colors, plaid throws, and pumpkins galore.
Yes, I know it may be a little early for some, but I have already started to do a few mini-fall-makeovers in my house and on the porch.
I find that if I change-up one area at a time, it doesn’t get so stressful for me.
I’ve collected a few pictures from this year and last year to show you some easy and inexpensive fall decorating ideas that you can use right up until after Thanksgiving.
Tips for Frugal Decorating
Here are a few of my favorite tips for keeping costs down when it comes to decorating your home for Fall or any season:
Recycle — Always use last year’s decor, and try adding in a few new items and change-up the location from the previous year.
DIY (Do It Yourself) — Make your own cute little signs using scrap wood and paint, buy dollar store items and “dress them up” with twine, yarn, paint, glitter, flowers, etc.
Visit consignment shops and yard sales for great prices on bulk decorations.
Use coupons and watch for sales at great home decor places, like Michaels, Kohls, TJ Maxx, Target, Walmart, Kirkland’s, Pottery Barn, Hobby Lobby, etc.
Pick-up items from your yard to use in your decor, like tree branches of fall leaves, pinecones, and various twigs and flowers.
This first gallery of photos displays my front door wreath and my front porch decorations.
The rocking chairs are old ones that I have had for years, and I painted them black two years ago.
The throws, pumpkins, pillow, scarecrow, flowers, and leaves are all items that I have had and used in previous years.
The wreath was purchased from Kirkland’s last year, and I added in a few pinecones and pumpkins.
I attached the round pallet board to the back of the wreath (for privacy), and I painted and added the S in the middle.
It’s so fun to add a little bit of your own creativity to projects!
This next set of pictures has my wreath from two-three years ago (which I still love), and some porch and patio photos.
I’m sure I will hang this wreath somewhere else — maybe on the back patio.
Oh, and I thought this one of the jack-o-lanterns was just too cute!
Dining Room Decor
There are quite a few Fall photos of my dining room, since our whole family gathers here for Thanksgiving, etc.
Remember, you can always add and take away things like turkeys and Halloween decor when you want to keep your fall theme more neutral and non-specific.
I have used all of the pumpkins, leaves, chargers, napkins, etc., for the last few years.
I plan to keep using everything each year until they lose their color or they completely fall apart! : )
Reuse, Recycle, ReLove
Here are a few pics from last year of the living room, foyer, and kitchen bench. Again — Reuse, Recycle, Re-Love!!!
Fall in the Utility Room/Mudroom
Finally, I have added a few Fall touches to the mudroom that I just finished making-over.
Now, I must say, I did buy a few things this year that are shown below.
But, they were all super affordable, on-sale, and I used coupons.
Like, the buffalo check pillows (Kirkland’s), the small “Welcome Y’all” sign, the buffalo check garland (Kirkland’s), the pumpkin pillow (Kirkland’s), and the cute little owls sitting on the shelf (TJ Maxx).
For the items at Kirklands, I had a 20% off coupon, I had $10 off using my points, and I had a birthday gift card for $30.00, so I didn’t have to spend much at all!
I made the “Pumpkins, Apples, and Hay Rides” sign using my Silhouette Cameo 3. And, I am reusing all my pumpkins.
This new mudroom has been SO FUN to decorate!!!
Comment below and let me know about your decorating.
Is it Fall at your house yet? When do you like to start getting out your pumpkins and plaid?
Do you decorate everything all in one day? Or, do you spread it out over a couple of weeks?
Happy Fall, Ya’ll!
