Are you ready for Spring? I can’t wait until everything starts blooming and the temperatures get above 70 degrees. Oh, and let’s not forget about all the new Spring buds and greenery, buzzing bees, baby birds chirping in their nests, little bunnies hopping here and there, planting gardens in our short sleeves… aaahhhhh…. I can feel that warm breeze now. Spring is one of my favorite seasons when it comes to decorating, so let’s see what I’ve rounded up for Spring Decor Ideas in the Home.
As you will notice throughout my posts, I LOVE to make my own signs to display in vignettes. Everything I make is super easy and super cheap! I use pieces of scrap lumber from my backyard (someone left perfectly good tree limbs, pallets, and scrap wood at the very back of our property. TREASURE!!!). Anyway, the more beat-up, scratched, dinged, dented, bent, and lop-sided the better! It just adds to the character. I like the farmhouse/rustic/vintage style. For the signs below, I used scrap pieces of wood, paint, and for two of the signs, I used my incredible Silhouette Cameo 3 that I purchased from Amazon to print-out vinyl letters and apply to the wood signs. I mean, you can make one of these signs in less than 30 minutes! And, I’ve probably made over 100 signs with it already. These are photos of my living room, entryway (with my DIY key rack), and in the kitchen.
This small area is the picture window in my dining room. The ledge of the window is pretty narrow, so I had to really think about what I wanted to put here. So, I started with a little piece of burlap — I like the fringes. Then, I brought out my vintage-looking Easter sign, my watering can, and the little bird’s nest beside it. Next, I decided to add some vintage books to the mix — and then a small green planter with a little fern inside. Now, what’s missing…. Oh! Bunnies, of course! Can’t have a Spring or Easter display without a little rabbit or two (and these are SO CUTE!).
Again, I used some signs I made and intermingled them with some decor items and greenery. You see the photo in the middle? That is over the bed in my guest bedroom. And, that’s wallpaper on the wall that looks like gray wood planks. The old window was $5.00 at a flea market, and I painted and distressed some old candlesticks that I found. For springtime, I love to use pink tulips from the market when they have them. They make me feel so happy!
For me, bringing the outdoors in is what helps to make it feel like spring. Lots of touches of greenery, ferns, nests with eggs, light colored throws, crisp, spring-rain scent candles, and white dishes. As you can see in the photos, my house is mostly dark walls and woods, so I like to brighten it up a bit. These things help create that feeling of freshness and new beginnings! The photos below are from my dining room, living room, and kitchen.
I’d love to see your Spring displays as well — please share them with me! And, Happy Spring Decorating!
