  1. Wash and peel the sweet potatoes, then cut them into thin, uniform strips.

  4. Divide the seasoned sweet potato strips into batches and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer, without overcrowding.
  5. Cook the sweet potato fries in the air fryer for 12-15 minutes per batch, shaking or flipping halfway through cooking, until they are crispy and golden brown.
  6. Repeat with the remaining batches of sweet potato fries.
  7. Serve the sweet potato fries hot, with your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!

Notes

Pro Tips for Success

  • Cut fries evenly – Similar-sized pieces cook more evenly and get crispier.
  • Soak in cold water (optional but helpful) – Soaking the sweet potato sticks for 30 minutes and drying them well helps remove starch and improves crispiness.
  • Don’t overcrowd the basket – Cook in batches if needed so they crisp up instead of steaming.
  • Shake halfway through cooking – This helps them cook and brown evenly.
  • Serve right away – These are best hot and crispy straight from the air fryer!

Recipe FAQs

Can I make these ahead of time?
These are best fresh from the air fryer, but you can reheat leftovers at 375°F for a few minutes to crisp them up again.
How long do they cook in the air fryer?
About 12–15 minutes at 400°F, depending on the thickness of your fries and your air fryer model.
Can I use frozen sweet potato fries instead?
Yes! Just skip the oil and seasoning (or add seasoning after) and adjust the cook time slightly.
How do I get them really crispy?
Make sure the fries are completely dry, don’t overcrowd the basket, and cook at a high temperature—400°F is usually the sweet spot.
Can I leave the skin on?
Absolutely! Just scrub the sweet potatoes well. The skin adds texture and nutrients.
